On June 21st, Shade Tree Garage’s owner, John O’Connor will be embarking on a historic tour of the Lincoln Highway, the first paved transcontinental road. Joining him will be his wife and their 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible. They will meet up with other East Coast participants in Times Square in New York City and take a ten-day drive along the historic route. Scheduled to arrive in Kearny, Nebraska on June 30th, they will join the drivers from the West Coast. A total of 270 people and 140 vehicles will be participating in the anniversary event.
“My wife and I are very excited to be a part of this event celebrating the anniversary of the birth of our nation’s first transcontinental roadway,” states John O’Connor. “We’ll have the opportunity to see so many wonderful areas in this country and we’re certain to make a lot of new friends in the process.” John and his wife will be chronicling their adventure and sharing the details right here on the Shade Tree Garage blog.
